Vijayaraj Alagarswami was born on August 25, 1952, known as the Vijayakanth scene and is known as Captain, an Indian politician and movie actor. He was opposition leader in the Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu from 2011 to 2016. Before entering politics, Vijayakanth was an actor, producer and film director. He was a political film actor in Tamil cinema. Vijayakanth is also the current chairman of the DMDK of the Tamil Nadu legislature. He is the founder and leader of the political party Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) and has been a member of the Legislature twice, representing the constituency of Virudhacalam and Rishivandiyam, respectively.
Vijaykanth was born in Madurai. His parents are K. N. Alagarswami and Aandal Azhagarswami. He married Premalatha on January 31, 1990 and had two sons, Vijay Prabhakar and Shanmuga Pandian, the latter being a film actor. “Vijayakanth”, removing the “Raj” from his name and completing it with “Kanth” by director Khaja. He is nicknamed “Captain”, from one of his popular films, Captain Prabhakharan.
Vijayakanth is one of the few politicians and Tamil actors in the political drama to have acted only in Tamil films during his career, although his films have been dubbed into Telugu and Hindi. He is also known for representing a village that feels good. He has appeared in more than 20 films as a policeman. By far most often by an actor of his time in Tamil cinema to have donned khaki in movies. His first film was Inikkum Ilamai (1979) where he played an antagonistic role. His next films, Agal Vilakku (1979), most of his films are with him. He was nicknamed “Captain” after the movie Captain Prabhakaran (1991), his 100th film.
